This was the first time I had a crack at writing a legally sensitive story when the verdict had just been reached from court – and I was a little apprehensive doing it.

After getting the information initially from a reliable French news outlet, I did further research on the case and was able to structure a thorough piece which included the facts and the key details. It was critical to ensure the first few paragraphs got straight to the point, but then because of Ben Arfa’s career decline, I felt to entice the reader further, a detailed look at his drop off would be a good idea.

In the end, the piece managed to do quite well and I was proud of the piece of work I produced, given it was legally sensitive. There was no issues in the end and it made me more confident to go and work across more of them in the future. I tweeted the story extremely straight with no emojis, due to the seriousness of the story.
